Scarves are one of the most interesting accessories– they have the ability to dress up or tone down a look. They are functional yet fab, funky yet chic. In these cold winter months when the only thing that gets you excited to wake up is a steaming cup of coffee (with a little hazelnut cream mixed in, of course) bundle up with a scarf. Pile on the layers. Stay warm and look sharp with these creative scarf-tying ideas.

New Year’s Eve Fashion Under $100

No Comments 30 December 2011

This is a guest post by Jessica of My Style Vita.

There are enough guilty pleasures on this fun filled holiday from too much booze, food overload, and staying out all night long.  Keep the guilt from your price tag on your new dress by choosing one of My Style Vita‘s favorite affordable picks.

Sequins are a must for this holiday season. Be the “Belle of The Ball” with this shiny, gold mauve dress that is a different take on the typical black or silver sparkles.

This red, rose one shoulder dress is under $50 can also double as a Valentine’s Day ensemble too. Talk about multi-purpose.

If there’s one thing I’m craving this party season, it’s LACE!!! There is a very sexy sophistication to a lace overlay. I personally opted for Lace dress as a personal choice for a recent holiday party I recently attended. For a pop of color, I added a fun pair of Purple Suede Shoes.

En Crème Lace Illusion Dress $68

And, to top off your New Year’s ensemble, add inexpensive accessories such as a easy clutch or sparkling jewels and you’re all set to ring in the New Year!!!

These dresses are uber stylish, fun and you are able to remix them into your everyday wardrobe by adding casual blazerstights, and flat riding boots for the office or a weekend outfit.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

Partnered Post-What to Wear To A Wedding

No Comments 17 April 2011

Depending on the overall theme of the wedding, your look may need to change in order to look appropriate. Most weddings fall within three categories: Casual, Semi-casual and Formal. Weddings are a perfect occasion to show off your fashion sense, and to bring out the perfect party dress. Handpicked are party dresses by David’s Bridal that will look great for all your spring and summer weddings.

SEMI-FORMAL WEDDING
If you’re not sure about the theme of the wedding, always go semi-formal. Choose a fun satin dress that can be perceived as formal or casual. This teal one shoulder dress from David’s Bridal is perfect for a spring semi-formal wedding. The ruffled shoulder accent gives the dress a little touch of fun while staying elegant. Mix up your accessories with chic earrings, a snake skin clutch and a solid shoe.

FORMAL WEDDING
Formal weddings are always tricky. Choose a dress with sleeves in a satin material. Satin always looks chic and elegant. Pearls are a perfect accessory for your formal look as they are the symbol of sophistication. Choose a patterned grey clutch and light grey shoes for the perfect polished look.

Tips for 3 Spring Ready Looks

The right outfit can change everything. Choosing your clothing thoughtfully will put a spring in your step and give you a priceless climb in confidence. It’s not just about looking your best; it’s about maximizing experiences by wearing the perfect outfit as often as possible.

Quality Over Quantity

There are two ways you can approach style seeking. You can either purchase a pile of shirts that fall apart after a couple washes or pick pieces that stand the test of time—and fashion.

The Look That Inspires a Double Take

Anyone lucky enough to have found the elusive perfect pair of jeans knows the value of an I-look-amazing-in-this ensemble. And chances are if you feel amazing in an outfit, you look amazing too. So spend the time searching for swagger-worthy styles that are made with quality materials that feature the most durable construction.

The Look That Inspires an Artisan Afternoon

Most of us are equipped to “dress to impress” but what about dressing to be inspired? There’s a reason people don’t go to court wearing tie-dyed togas and Birkenstocks and why people spouting spoken word poetry don’t wear pinstriped, three-piece suits. Different styles inspire us differently. Want to devote Presidents’ Day to re-decorating your apartment or taking up painting or pottery? Dress in free-flowing styles with brilliant prints. Invest in something high-quality—and you’ll be conjuring creativity for years to come.

The Look That Inspires Sunshine Seeking

You can dress for the job you want or you can dress for the weather you want. Okay, don’t wear a bikini in a blizzard, but do prepare for those incredible sunny spring days by having your perfect sun-seeking ensemble ready. Stripes are classic. Try mixing them with denim shorts with your favorite bikini underneath. You’ll be glad to have go-to outfit when the weather is outstanding.

college Three Events I Guarantee You Will Attend After College

Life after college can be somewhat unpredictable. Especially when it comes to figuring out what the next step will be. On the other hand something a little more predictable is probably what you’re going through as a recent grad. If it’s anything like I felt coming out of college then you most certainly will relate to this.

Are you uncertain about your career choice (a.k.a the four years you spent “studying”)? Have you not quite figured out your personal style (does Forever21 count)? Are you experiencing a sense of freedom yet completely overwhelmed at the same time, and have you recently developed a hatred toward the most commonly asked question,”What do you do?”

If so, congratulations. You’re completely normal!

We can still hope for the day when throwing on a college sweatshirt and flip flops is once again acceptable fashion, but unless you’re a surfer or Van Wilder, transitioning your college wardrobe is just as crucial as finding a job. While some things will continue to be unpredictable, I can guarantee attending these three events won’t!

Three Events I Guarantee You Will Attend After College

Interview/Meeting: This outfit should scream young smart professional not 1980s business woman! Big shoulder pads should be left for the NFL.

Fashion Tip: Looking like a young professional doesn’t mean wearing a suit unless your dress code states, “You must wear a suit.” Instead choose separates that can work with other pieces in your wardrobe. This allows you to play with color and add personal style to corporates rather boring business attire. Remember, you want to stand out, not blend in!

Key Items: Printed Blouses, Colorful Draped or Detailed Pencil Skirts, Boyfriend Blazer, Classic Two-Button or One-Button Blazer, Pointed Heel Slingbacks, Oxford Heels, Light Colored Trouser

Welcome to your 20 somethings where having a LBD (little black dress) is just as crucial as attending a wedding with an open bar.

Wedding:

Fashion Tip: Choose a LBD that is appropriate in length. For most 20 somethings this entails finding a dress that falls a little above the knee. Accessorizing is essential! Whether it be a statement necklace, multiple bangels, or colored platforms add your personal style to the dress. The better you accessorize the less people will notice that it’s the same dress.

What Not to Wear: Avoid trendy LBD’s. The whole point is to get a lot of usage out of one dress. Leave the trendiness to your jewelry.

Key Items: Colored Platforms, Bangels, Statement Necklace

Baby Shower: After all the weddings then comes all the baby showers. Casual but cute outfits will get you through multiple events in your 20s, whether you’re excited to attend your 5th baby shower from sorority friends in the past two months or not.

Fashion Tip: Pants are perfectly acceptable but choose a trouser or colored khaki. If skirts or dresses are more up your alley choose a cotton day dress or casual a-line skirt.

What Not to Wear: Avoid pleated pants! I don’t care if they are popular; they are just wrong! Avoid jeans as well. They are too casual.

Key Items: Patterned Blouse, Flats, Chino or Khaki Pant, Trouser, Colorful Tunic, Cotton Day Dress, Casual Trench Coat
