What’s is your name?
Erika Marie

Do you have a blog or website?
fashionchalet.blogspot.com
What inspired you to start a blog?
I found other blogs I liked and would visit on a daily basis until I eventually asked myself, why not start my own?

Once deciding to blog, what was the inspiration behind the blog?

A place to “showcase” my daily outfits, things I wanted to buy or already bought, and be able to write on my favorite subject; Fashion!!! icon smile Featured Blog Fashion Chalet Everything, from Old Hollywood to Modern now.
How would you describe your style?
I can never settle on one style, that would be far too boring. I like to experiment, try new things. The way I see it, every time I dress up, I get to be a different character. As eclectic as MK Olsen or as classic as Audrey Hepburn.

What pieces creates your perfect outfit?
It doesn’t matter the price tag as long as the item is meant to fit your body type, that is the most important aspect to me!

What item could you never live without?
Shoes
What are some pieces are essential for every woman wardrobe?
Staple jewelry pieces; a nice ring; a pair of elegant earrings, casual ballet flats, skinny pants, a cardigan and a summer hat
What in your everyday life inspires your fashion choices?
Music. Magazines. Movies.
Are you a affordable shopper?
I buy what I like and what I know I will use; be it $5 or $500 it’s a waste of money if you don’t wear/use it..
What are some of your favorite stores and brands?
Barneys New York is my “go-to” for trends, latest designer fixes, forever 21 for cheap (yet cute) trends, and Shopbop.com and GoJane.com for shoes
.Who are your fashion role models?
MK Olsen, Audrey Hepburn, Natasha Poly, Dree Hemingway and Isabeli Fontana.
Tell me 1 thing about yourself that people don’t know but might find interesting?
I’m addicted to playing mini games on Orisinal.com late at night. :]

Thank you so much Erica!!!

Job/Interview Worthy Wardrobe Items Under $30

No Comments 20 March 2009

Knowing the state of our job market and economy being in catastrophic state, people are looking for employment or trying to hold onto their employment for dear life. First Impressions and Image being everything, why not look the part. Its TIME TO DRESS FOR SUCCESS.

Here are some examples/questions of being work appropriate while still keeping with the season.

1. When dressing for the work place always ask yourself these questions:

  • Is the appropriate for the dress code?
  • How close is the fit to my body/Am I showing to much skin?
  • Is the length acceptable?
  • How do I feel in this dress?

*When asking these questions this is a great way to by your own worst critic. My motto is “If you are not comfortable, Do Not Wear It”.

2. Do not accessory overkill. Jewelry is the perfect example. Keeping accessories to a minimal is key. The style of the accessory very much counts too. Nothing should ever be “Over The Top”. The phrase “Less is more” definitely applies.

*Always take an inventory of your look, and take one item off. (I know Coco Chanel made a quote about this but I can’t remember the exact words)

3. Footwear is like the icing on a cake, they finish the look. The height and style of the shoe is very important. Making sure the shoe is tasteful and professional are key.

*Never having a heel over 3 inches is a great way to ensure that you still have sophistication while still keeping a professional demeanor.
